Launching of a project “Accelerating Engagement of Youth in Policy Advocacy and Reporting for

Prevention of HTP and Violence Against Children in their community” is underway in Rori

International Hotel, Hawassa. With the fund secured from UNICEF, EECMY DASSC is launching a

project that will be implemented in Sidama Region three woredas: Gorche, Loka Abaya, and

Darara. The project is implemented by South Central Ethiopia Synod (SCES-BO) clustered

under South Ethiopia Area Office (SE AO). The one-year project has a total budget of 7.41

million Birr directly targets a total of 13,992 (7,415 female) in the target woredas. The project

mainly focuses on awareness creation and community mobilization on Harmful Traditional

Practices and Violence Against Children prevailing in the target area.

In the launching workshop, representatives of the regional Women and Children’s Affairs,

Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, and Health Bureau; sector offices of the three

targeted woredas, UNICEF and EECMY-DASSC participated.
